Monetary donations are now being accepted by the Merritt & District Chamber of Commerce for the displaced residents of Kengard Manor. 

People wishing to donate funding are asked to contact the Chamber office at 250-378-5634, or after hours to 250-315-3290.

The ASK Wellness Society has agreed to take the lead for housing management for the displaced residents of Kengard Manor.

Landlords wishing to discuss accommodation opportunities are asked to contact the following:

The fire at the Kengard Manor apartment complex that started on the afternoon of Thursday, March 16, 2017, has left fifty-eight (58) residents displaced.

At the time of the fire, there were thirty-five (35) occupied units in the building.

A fire at the Kengard Manor apartment complex was reported just before noon on March 16, 2017.  Merritt Fire Rescue Department crews attended, and at this time a fire crew is still on scene completing Fire Watch.

The City of Merritt, in co-operation with the BC Wildfire Service, is planning to conduct a prescribed burn in the area of the Airport to reduce wildfire threats.
