BC Hydro | Tree Trimming and Removal

BC Hydro has engaged Wright Tree Services of Canada to perform essential vegetation management work throughout the city of Merritt. Over the next two months, starting December 16, 2025, Wright Tree Services will be trimming and removing trees near BC Hydro power lines and poles to ensure public safety, prevent outages, and protect electrical equipment.
Tree trimming is necessary to maintain the safety and reliability of the electrical system. Overgrown trees and branches near power lines can cause power outages, fires, or even pose electrocution hazards, particularly during storms or high winds. By clearing trees that are too close to electrical equipment, BC Hydro helps prevent these risks, maintains system reliability, and reduces the need for emergency repairs. This work is a critical part of managing vegetation to protect both residents and infrastructure.
This work will take place at various locations throughout the city, at different times. Please note that Wright Tree Services is contracted by BC Hydro to carry out this work and is not affiliated with the City of Merritt.
