Merritt Moves Bike Valet
Leave the car at home – ride to our next event!
Have you ever wanted to ride or roll to a community event but weren’t sure if you could safely park your bike? Well, dust off that bike, trike, or scooter, and ride to our next event because the City of Merritt is providing FREE bike parking all summer long through our new service, Merritt Moves Bike Valet.
So, what is a bike valet?
Great question – think of it like a coat check service, but cooler and for bikes! You drop off your bike with us and we park it.
Merritt Moves Bike Valet is a secure, convenient, and FREE bike parking service operated by City of Merritt staff during our summer events. With Merritt Moves Bike Valet, we want to encourage active transportation in our community and increase accessibility to our events.
Merritt Moves Bike Valet can accommodate a wide variety of active transportation devices, from bikes, trikes, e-bikes, cargo bikes, scooters, skateboards, wagons, bike trailers, strollers, and other personal mobility devices. If we can roll it in, we can likely park it.

How to use Merritt Moves Bike Valet
Step 1: Ride or roll to the next City of Merritt event.
Step 2: Follow the Merritt Moves Bike Valet signs to our check-in tent.
Step 3: Check in with City of Merritt staff and receive a claim pass. Staff will ask you for your name, a phone number we can reach you at (if needed), and what type of bike you’re parking. We will assign you a claim pass that you will need to bring back for us to return your bike.
Step 4: Give us your bike to park. We will tag your bike with the matching number to your claim pass and roll it into our secured bike parking enclosure. Feel free to leave items (such as locks, lights, bottles, or panniers) securely attached to your bike that you don’t want to carry with you. However, all items are left at the owner’s risk as we cannot inventory accessories and are, therefore, not responsible for them. Please keep your claim pass in a secure location as we will return the bike to anyone with a valid claim pass.
Step 5: You’ve securely parked your bike, you’ve got your claim pass tucked away for later, all that’s left to do is to enjoy the event!
Step 6: Return your claim pass before the end of the event and roll away with your bike. When you’re ready to head out, come back to the Merritt Moves Bike Valet tent and hand us your claim pass to check out your bike. If you misplace your claim pass, you will need to present photo ID and confirm your contact details with staff to receive your bike. Pro tip: just in case, take a photo of your claim pass with your phone.
Step 7: Tell your friends, family, and neighbours about how awesome this service is. Scan the BC Bike Valet User Survey QR code to let us know about your experience. You can also click here [hyperlink: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CBV9JV6] to access the survey.
