Zoning Bylaw Amendment

Notice is hereby given that a First, Second, and Third Reading be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, with respect to the below proposed Zoning Bylaw amendments. The Council Meeting will be held in the Council Chambers at
City Hall (2185 Voght St) and broadcast live on merritt.ca/watchmeetings.

A Public Hearing will NOT be held for the sole purpose of complying with the provisions for Small-Scale Multi Unit Housing pursuant to sections 464 and 467 of the Local Government Act.

SUBJECT PROPERTY: The entirety of the City of Merritt.

ZONING BYLAW: The Zoning Bylaw No. 2284, 2020 is amended in multiple sections pursuant to the B.C. Government Legislation for Small-Scale Multi-Unit Housing (SSMUH). The amendment will cover updates to the General Regulations, Definitions, Development Regulations, Screening and Landscaping, Parking and Loading, and Zoning Districts.

The intent of the provincial updates is to close the gap between housing supply and demand in British Columbia. The City of Merritt is required to update their bylaws by summer 2024 to meet new provincial requirements.

A copy of the proposed Bylaw amendments may be viewed at City Hall (2185 Voght Street, Merritt BC) from Tuesday to Friday 8:00am to 12:00pm and 1:15pm to 5:30pm from Friday, May 17, 2024, to Tuesday, May 28,
2024, or online at www.merritt.ca. The First, Second, and Third Reading of the Bylaw will be held in the Regular
Council Meeting of Tuesday, May 28, 2024.

A full copy of the Consolidated Zoning Bylaw including recent amendments will be available after the Final Adoption on June 25, 2024. This Notice is published in accordance with Section 464(4) and 467 of the
Local Government Act. Note: this is the first of two consecutive Public Notices.
