No Municipal Fireworks Show

The City’s regular certified pyrotechnic technician is no longer available to perform in Merritt. Any fireworks conducted on City property must be supervised by a licensed fireworks operator.  Merrit Fire Rescue must also be available to monitor the event.

In addition, the City has been unable to provide the funding this year.  The City’s recreation department continues to search for funding options and service providers for next year.

Please note that fireworks obtained for private uses must only be ignited on your own private property.  Residents must not set off fireworks on public property, including roadways and parking lots.  It is strongly recommended that you gain permission from the owner of the private property before igniting any fireworks.
