CANADA POST STRIKE AFFECTING UTILITY BILL MAILING

Due to the ongoing Canada Post strike, the City of Merritt may be unable to mail fall 2025 utility bills. To avoid disruption, residents are encouraged to sign up to receive their utility bills online (see instructions below to register for your online account).

If you do not wish to receive your bill by email, you may pick up a printed copy at City Hall beginning October 15, 2025.

Please note that utility bill payments must be received by the City no later than 4:30 p.m. on Friday, November 28, 2025. If you are paying through online banking, please make your payment by Friday, November 21, 2025, to allow sufficient processing time.

Residential Utility Bills

Residential utility bills are due twice a year.  They are sent out via mail, or email if registered, in mid-April and mid-October, respectively. Due dates are typically at the end of May or the end of November.

Commercial Utility Bills

Commercial utility bills are due quarterly.  They are typically sent out via mail or email (if registered) in January, April, July, and October. Due dates are approximately 30 days from the date on the invoice.

Exact due dates depend on a number of factors.  These approximate dates are provided as general information only and should not be construed as official due dates.  All invoices are due as noted on the utility invoice.
