Fire Recruitment Process

  • Applications can be completed below, requested by email through the Fire Chief, or, picked up in person at the fire hall.
  • Criminal Record Check
  • Driver’s Abstract
  • Standard Personal Interview
  • Pre-Orientation
  • Recruitment Physical
  • Standard Orientation/Basic Training

Please note:

  • The minimum age requirement is 19
  • Must be Canadian Citizen or Landed Immigrant
  • Must live within 12kms of the fire hall (1799 Nicola Ave)

Recruit classes are conducted as needed. Interviews are conducted approx. one month prior to the start of recruit training.  If an applicant successfully completes the recruitment process and is accepted as a paid-on-call firefighter, they will begin the Recruit Training Program that includes hands-on training, with additional weekly training sessions covering a variety of drills, practice sessions, and competency tests. Training is provided at no cost to you.

A charge or conviction of an offence does not necessarily preclude consideration for the position of firefighter. Any violation will be judged on the basis of its relation to this occupation.
