Economic Development Summit

The City of Merritt is looking at how economic development can best support our community today and in the future.
Before deciding what comes next, we want to hear from you.

We’re inviting community members, local businesses, and regional partners to share what is working well, where there are challenges and opportunities, and what Merritt should focus on moving forward.

Your input will also help the City decide whether to update Merritt’s existing Economic Development Strategy or take a different approach.

Join community members, local businesses, community and regional partners for a conversation about Merritt’s economic future.
Date: November 16
Time: 8:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. (breakfast 8:30 – 9, lunch 12-1)
Location: Civic Centre

Why are we having this conversation?
Merritt has changed and so have the needs and opportunities facing our local economy. Rather than assume the City’s existing Economic Development Strategy simply needs to be updated, we’re taking a step back and asking a bigger question: What is the best approach to economic development for Merritt today and into the future?

We want to hear from the people who know Merritt and are invested in its future. Your input will help us better understand:
• What is working well?
• The challenges businesses and the community are facing.
• Opportunities for Merritt’s economy.
• What should we focus on?
• How the City can best help.
• What approach should Merritt take to guide future economic development?
