The City of Merritt is seeking Expressions of Interest from Artists for a new installation on the exterior of the Nicola Valley Memorial Arena.
This is a unique opportunity for all visual artists. Artists will create the artwork and provide a high resolution digital copy that can be enlarged for production and installation. The final installation will be printed on vinyl, mounted on aluminum composite, and laminated for the highest durability and preservation of the artwork.
“Artists do not need to be muralists as they will not be required to paint the wall,” says Linda Brick, Deputy Corporate Officer with the City of Merritt. “The installation method removes the challenges associated with painting murals, such as weather conditions and the surface of the wall itself.”
The goal of the finished work is to celebrate the history and diversity of sport in the Nicola Valley. This theme suits the Nicola Valley Memorial Arena location. However, artists may choose to feature a wide variety of sports in their design.
Artists may choose to work individually or in collaboration with other artists. The deadline for submission of Expressions of Interest is September 27, 2021. More information can be found on the City’s website: www.merritt.ca
The City of Merritt would like to acknowledge funding from the Province of British Columbia to support this project.
