Regular Permit Fees and Application Fees
Reinstated January 1, 2024

On December 7, 2021, Council implemented temporary Flood Inundation Zone Building Measures as one of several actions aimed at reducing the financial burden of flood-affected property owners.  This measure was intended to waive fees and expedite permits for home and/or property owners directly affected by the November 2021 flood. (This exemption does not apply to property and/or homeowners or developers who have purchased a property after November 15, 2021) This 2-year flood-relief measure expires on December 31, 2023.

Effective January 1, 2024, the City will return to regular permitting processes and fees. This includes the following permits:

  • Earthworks Permit
  • Development Permit (Form & Character) (for R1 or R2 zoned properties)
  • Development Permit (Technical) (eg. riparian, geotechnical, and wildfire)
  • Building Permit (renovation (includes decks) and new construction replacing demolished buildings)
  • Plumbing Permit (eg. new or replacement pipes)
  • Demolition Permit (note: a Demolition Permit is only required if a structure is being demolished and removed from a property).
