Are you interested in having a small confined fire in your backyard? The City of Merritt has adopted a new Fire Safety Regulations Bylaw that allows these small fires upon receipt of a permit!
Click here to review Bylaw 2272, 2019.
The City pamphlet provides a summary of the key regulations set out in Bylaw 2272, 2019, including the requirements for a fire pit, distances from lot lines, structures and combustible materials, and the inspection process.
Click here for the copy of the Application form. Please make sure to identify the zone of your property and attach a map or sketch of the property showing proposed fire location, and distances in meters to property boundaries and to structures. Application forms must be submitted at City Hall and be accompanied by a $25.00 fee. This fee will partially cover the cost of the fire inspection(s) required as part of the permit process.
