In suppport of the province's five-year event hosting strategy, the Ministry of Cummunity, Sport and Cultural Development has allocated $250,000 towards a one-time funding opportunity to encourage comunity events that strengthen volunteer capacity for event hosting throughout the Province.

Bear / human conflict occurs in Merritt every year and results in the destruction of many bears. The new "garbage" bylaw now requires garbage to be placed curbside the morning of pickup and comes with a $100 fine if placed anytime before 5am.

A permissive tax exemption is a means for Council to support organizations within the community which further Council's objectives of enhancing quality of life (environmental, economic, social, cultural) and delivering community services economically.

May 25-26, 2015: Property Tax Notices for 2015 will be mailed to residents. Online Home Owner Grants will be available once tax notices are mailed. July 2, 2015: Your 2015 Property Tax payment is due. Payments made after July 2nd of the current tax year will have a late penalty of 10% applied.

The City of Merritt Public Works Department is accepting Tenders for the supply of one new Ice Resurfacing Machine.
