Public WorksThe City of Merritt is has issued a Request for Proposals on the design and construction of a well pumphouse. The documents can be downloaded: Well Pumphouse RFP . The request for proposals closes on August 13.
The Public Works Department is responsible for operating and maintaining the City's infrastructure - roads, sidewalks, paths, sewer, water, garbage, recycling.... if you need to report a problem, please call the City at 250-378-4224, or come in an fill out a Service Request form, or complete the form at the bottom of this page.
2010 to 2011 Garbage Schedule
Lower Nicola Landfill is located on Hwy 8, approximately 10 km from Merritt. The Landfill is operated by the Thompson Nicola Regional District. The TNRD has now instituted a "Pay as you Throw" costs to use the land fill. Eco-Cards are available at City Hall in denominations of $10, $20 and $50. Recycling: The City is pleased to announce its new and expanded recycling centre opening adjacent to the Public Works Yard as of August 29th. This will be the start of the new Blue Bag recycling program in partnership with the TNRD.

If you notice a problem that should be report to Public Works, eg a pot hole on a City street, you may report the problem by filling out the form below, or you can come to City Hall to fill out a service request form. Please note that all of the fields, including your name and contact information must be included in the request so that we can get in touch if we need clarification or more information. Public Works will work to resolve the problem as quickly as possibe; we will not be contacting service requestors unless we require additional information.
