The City of Merritt is excited to welcome back the Nicola Valley Rodeo for their 64th annual event this coming Labour Day long weekend. “Bring your Lil’ cowpokes to this high quality action packed family event that honours the ranching and rodeo heritage of the Nicola Valley!

Rodeo Parade

Kick off Merritt’s famed Nicola Valley Pro Rodeo weekend with a visit to the Rodeo Parade on Friday, August 30, 2024 at 6:30PM.  Road closures will be in effect from two hours before the event start (effectively 4:30PM).

After the Friday evening parade, head over to the Rodeo Grounds for live music, featuring Windjammers beginning at 8:00 pm.  This event is free to the public.

Nicola Valley Fall Fair

The Nicola Valley Fall Fair is an annual agricultural and industrial exhibition held on the Labour Day weekend each year.  Their aim is to improve conditions of rural life and to stimulate interest in improving the quality of agricultural and other products and all phases of the agricultural industry.  They provide a medium for exchange of information by members and to educate the public.  They also encourage 4H Club work.

The Nicola Valley Fall Fair welcomes any and all who wish to volunteer, enter exhibits in the fair and come out to see the many talents of our community and to meet new friends.

Fair categories include Flowers, Baking, Canning, Homecrafts, Hobbies, Photography, Forage Crops,  Fine Arts, Fruits and Veggies, Wine, Students, Poultry, Pigeons, Goats, Sheep, Cows, Rabbits, Cavies.

  • August 28th   |   5:00pm – deadline for entries, entry forms should be taken to Blacks Pharmacy or Pharmasave. After 5 pm, they can be brought to the Fall Fair Building
  • August 29th   |   6:00pm – 9:00pm – Bring photography entries to the Exhibition Building
    Bring Students Creative Writing, Photography and Fine Arts to the Exhibition Building
    – 7:00pm – 9:00pm – Bring Fine Arts entries to the Exhibition Building
