NICOLA VALLEY ARTS COUNCIL
“STILL LIFE” ART SHOW | FEB 2 to MID-MARCH
The NVCAC new community art exhibit planned for early February to mid March (dates soon) is all about the art of Still Life…
Still Life: a painting or drawing of an arrangement of objects, typically including fruit and flowers and objects contrasting with these in texture, such as bowls and glassware.
The theme this year is the presentation of Still Life art- in paintings and drawings but to go beyond…so also sculpted, stained glass, mixed media, fabric, photographs, nature and home objects set up as still life…
We want to express the mood of the season for this show, when things are still and contemplative…outside and inside.
- We are asking for fresh work, or work that has not been presented in a NV Gallery Show.
- We also ask that, if you have you have presented any still life art pieces elsewhere in the region, that it not be within the last two years.
This can be a challenge for some of you who feel you may have a piece you’d like to show, that the public has seen recently.
Please contact Jano Howarth curator@nicolavalleyarts.com, in time for a decision to be made about those pieces.
We are excited to have a guest curator for this show, Barbara Sayles! As I will be gone for the beginning and part of the show, Barb will take over discussions, entries, collection and set up towards the end of December.
The show collection is Monday, January 30th. Set up will be Jan 30 and Feb 2nd. Show opens Feb 2nd
- The show runs Thursday Feb 2/23 to mid March
- Reception date Friday Feb 17, 4-7pm (Sounds like a good one!)
- The Nicola Valley Arts Centre is open Wednesdays to Saturdays from 10am to 5pm, and on Sundays from 12:00pm to 4:00pm.
The Arts Council needs to know who is submitting, and by when about mid January or before.
Contact Jano Howarth curator@nicolavalleyarts.com for plans to bring in art work.
Barbara Sayles can also be contacted and we will coordinate submissions.
