Separation of Plastic Bags from Mixed Recycling Effective September 5th

Effective September 5th, 2017 the Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) will no longer be accepting plastic bags in its mixed recycling program.  This effects the recycling program the City of Merritt offers.

What will no longer be accepted:

• Bags for groceries or dry cleaning
• Bags for bread, produce, dry bulk foods and frozen vegetables
• Plastic wrap

Please DO NOT INCLUDE these items in your recycling bins for weekly bin collection by the City or mixed recycling blue bags at Main Street recycling depot.

You can recycle the plastic bags at the TNRD Eco-Depot, separately from mixed recycling.

Please DO NOT dispose of them in your household garbage.
