Merritt —December 17, 2015— The City of Merritt is pleased to announce the position for Director of Corporate Services has been filled. Starting the beginning of March, Melisa Miles will be entering her new role as the Director of Corporate Services.
For the past five years, Ms. Miles has been with the Village of Silverton, B.C. in numerous roles, including Administrative Assistant, Deputy Chief Administrative Officer, and over the last year in the role of CAO. Not all of her work experience has been working in the second smallest B.C. village though. Before her career in local government, Ms. Miles worked in the private sector in Calgary, AB.
Ms. Miles notes she is “interested in creating and maintaining a positive working environment and thrives in dynamic team settings”. Some of her strengths Ms. Miles will be bringing to the City of Merritt include; being well versed in bylaw and policy preparation, record maintenance, and local government legislation. Ms. Miles adds she “strongly believes in the mechanics of local government and when it is run efficiently and transparently it makes for a productive and vibrant community”.
Alongside the daily activities, the Director of Corporate Services:
• oversees the provision of Bylaw Enforcement and Human Resources services
• acts as the primary media relations contact for the local government
• is the Local Government Emergency Public Information Officer
Ms. Miles will be bringing her young family with her to Merritt in March and is “looking forward to living and working in a larger center again”. She adds she is “eager to get started on the day-to-day affairs corresponding to her new responsibilities as Director of Corporate Services with the City of Merritt starting March 2016”.
