City Council has appointed Shawn Boven, Manager of Public Works, as Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) effective immediately. The Chief Administrative Officer oversees the management of the operations of the City, ensures that the policies, programs and other directions of Council are implemented and advises and informs the Council on the operation and affairs of the City.
Shawn had been acting as Interim CAO since Allan Chabot tendered his resignation from the City to go to Revelstoke for the same position. Shawn brings 25 years of local government experience to the City, including the past 10 years as Public Works Manager. Shawn was originally hired to lead departmental change and look for operational efficiencies within Public Works, and succeeded in that regard.
City Council had engaged the services of the Ravenhill Group to assist with the recruitment of a permanent CAO for the City, but called the search off.
Mayor Neil Menard said: It became clear quite quickly once Shawn was in the role that he was the best fit for the organization and the community. Shawn supports the vision of Council and will be key helping implement it.
In accepting the position as CAO Shawn Boven said: I am going to continue to do the things that have brought departmental success and with the increased span of control, bring success to other areas of municipal operations.
Shawn can be contacted at City Hall by e‐mail at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at 250‐378‐8613.
