Bear-resistant Garbage Bin Loan Program

WildSafeBC and the Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) are pleased to announce the start of the bear-resistant garbage bin loan program in Merritt. The TNRD has purchased 20 new garbage bins that are now available to loan to Merritt residents with garbage storage issues. Residents will also have the option to buy the bin at the completion of the loan period.

If you don’t have a secure shed or garage to store your garbage, please contact your WildSafeBC Community Coordinator, Mandy Ross, to borrow one of these new bins. We encourage everyone to work together to help reduce human-wildlife conflicts in our communities.

WildSafeBC is an educational program delivered in partnership with the BC Conservation
Foundation and the TNRD. This program strives to keep wildlife wild and communities safe in all aspects of our lives, including how we live, work, play and grow. For tips and information on reducing human-wildlife conflict, visit www.wildsafebc.com, follow WildSafeBC TNRD on Facebook, or contact Mandy Ross, your local coordinator in the TNRD, at 250-828-2551 ext. 111 or by email:  tnrd@wildsafebc.com.

WildSafeBC TNRD would like to acknowledge the support of the BC Ministry of Environment, the British Columbia Conservation Foundation, and the Thompson-Nicola Regional District.
