BYLAWS

Land Use Amendment – 3969 Crawford Avenue

  • THAT City of Merritt Zoning Bylaw Amendment Bylaw No. 2179, 2014 be given third reading
  • THAT the City of Merritt Permissive Tax Exemption Bylaw No. 2184, 2014 be amended by adding to “Schedule B” Interior Community Services for their portion of the leased building located at 2975 Clapperton Avenue, Folio 10810, legal description KAP27246 Lot 1
  • THAT the City of Merritt Permissive Tax Exemption Bylaw No. 2184, 2014 be given first reading as amendend
  • THAT the City of Merritt Permissive Tax Exemption Bylaw No. 2184, 2014 be given second reading
  • THAT the City of Merritt Permissive Tax Exemption Bylaw No. 2184, 2014 be given third reading

NEW BUSINESS

  • THAT Council approves the purchase of the complete upgrade of the Merritt Airport Fueling Station at a cost of one hundred thousand ($100,000) dollars with funding to come from the 2014 Capital Budget of forty five thousand ($45,000) dollars and the balance to come from the Reserve for Future Expenditure (Voting Opposed: Councillor Baker)
  • THAT Council approves the purchase of the mobile home owned by Mr. and Mrs. McNeil located at the Claybanks RV Park in the amount of forty four thousand ($44,000) dollars with funding of the purchase to come from the City’s Reserve for Future Expenditure
  • THAT Council awards the purchase of a new 4X4 Utility Work Machine to Western Equipment Ltd. in the amount of sixty eight thousand eight hundred and eighty ($68,880) dollars including applicable taxes
  • THAT Council approve Development Permit application DP2014-K (Hotel Development at 3969 Crawford Avenue) and authorizes issuance of the Permit subject to:
    1. The requisite security bond being received for landscaping in the amount of two hundred twenty-one thousand four hundred and eleven dollars and seventy cents ($221,411.70); and
    2. Approval from the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure; and
    3. Adoption of Zoning Bylaw Amendment 2179, 2014
  • THAT Council consider an application for out of municipal boundary water services to Sunniva Medical Inc.;

    AND THAT direction be given to staff to prepare a report clarifying the time lines, details of the City of Merritt Provision of Services Outside City Boundaries policy and prepare an agreement to provide Sunniva Medical Inc. water services outside City boundary

REPORTS FROM COUNCIL

  • Councillor Baker attended the “Suicide Awareness Walk”; participated in a Forestry ball tournament; attended the Chamber of Commerce awards banquet and the UBCM conference
  • Councillor Goetz attended the Farmers Market appreciation day; the discussions of library services; the opening game of the Merritt Centennials and commented on the 2104 UBCM Conference
  • Councillor Kroeker commented on the UBCM Conference he also attended
  • Councillor Menard commented on his first UBCM Conference and thanked everyone for the opportunity to attend
  • Mayor Roline participated in the “Memory Walk” and the “World Suicide Prevention Week”; attended the NVIT Welcome Back Community event; welcomed visitors from Penticton, Peachland and Summerland from the wine brewing industry; participated in the Central Park “Phase 1” sod turning ceremony and attended the Chamber of Commerce awards gala congratulating all the nominees and winners.  Mayor Roline commented on the reception of Council at the Minister meetings during the UBCM Conference and attended the Merritt Centennials season opener as well as the Garlic Festival
