Pursuant to City of Merritt Council Procedures Bylaw No. 2055, 2008 Section 21(f) Public Input period shall be discontinued for meetings in the two (2) months preceding a civic election

GENERAL MATTERS - Delegations and Recognitions

  • Ms. A. Papou discussed with Council the blockade placed across the road providing access to the driveway, walkway and carport of her family home on McGoran Place.  Ms. Papou cited the Transportation Act with regards to publically maintained roads and concluded by asking Council to the mistake which has been made and asks Council to right the mistake by making this a legal road

BYLAWS

Land Use Amendment – 3969 Crawford Avenue

  • DEFEATED THAT City of Merritt Zoning Bylaw Amendment Bylaw No. 2178, 2014 be given third reading
    Voting Opposed:  Mayor Roline, Councillors Baker, Christopherson, Goetz, Kroeker and Norgaard

NEW BUSINESS

  • THAT the City agrees to renew the partnership agreement between the City and PacificSport Regional Sport Centre – Interior BC Society for the period of September 01, 2014 to August 31, 2017; AND THAT the Mayor and Chief Administrative Officer be authorized to sign on behalf of the City
  • THAT Council approve the expenditure of twenty thousand five hundred ($20,500) dollars for the SCADA system upgrade at the Wastewater Treatment Plant with funding to come from the Sewer Utility Reserve for Future Expenditure

REPORTS FROM COUNCIL

  • Councillor Baker updated Council on the Air Quality Committee’s progress on the updated Air Quality Plan 
  • Councillor Goetz thanked the City for the cleanup in Collettville and congratulated the Fire Chief on the professionalism of the department members at the recent bus crash scene on the Coquihalla
  • Councillor Norgaard also thanked the Fire Rescue Department noting the thank you to the members on the evening news
  • Mayor Roline attend the rodeo event, the Central Okanagan Similkameen constituency meeting and reminded everyone of the upcoming Chamber of Commerce awards gala on September 20, 2014
