New Business:
  1. Council awarded the tender for the infrastructure renewal on Chapman Street to V-Line Construction in the amount of $596,624.00 including taxes and authorized the Mayor and Corporate Officer to execute the necessary documents.
  2. Council requested staff provide Council a quote for costs to complete the Chapman Street infrastructure renewal project to include curb to sidewalk and storm sewer.
  3. Council awarded the tender for the subdivision servicing requirements at the Merritt Airport to Lower Nicola Backhoe Construction in the amount of $872,723.71 including taxes subject to no issues arising during the City of Merritt Airport Subdivision and Servicing Loan Authorization Bylaw No. 2119, 2011 quashing period ending September 09, 2011 and authorized the Mayor and Corporate Officer to execute the necessary documents.
  4. Council provided an in-kind donation to the Nicola Valley Health Centre Endowment Foundation to cover the cost of the Civic Centre Auditorium rental fee for the Health Fair for Seniors to be held October 26, 2011.
  5. Council provided an in-kind donation to the Merritt Sunrise Rotary Club to cover the cost of Voght Park rental fee for the Terry Fox Run.
Notices of Motion:
  1. Councillor Goetz requested that Council explore the opportunity of creating a bylaw for the purpose of a time extension for Development Cost Charges under $50,000.00
Reports from Council:
  1. Councillor Goetz raised the following items for discussion:
    City Bylaw Officer erect signs along the Coldwater River trail advising pet owners that animals must be on leashes
    City Bylaw Officer place an article in the newspapers advising owners they are responsible for their animals
    The Bylaw Officer reported that both of these requests had been addressed earlier in the day - a sign was erected at the Claybanks RV Park entrance to the path and a discussion was had with the local newspaper:
    • »ATV Task Force need to patrol the area along the Coldwater River trails as dirt bikes are accessing the flats from this trail
    • »Gyproc being dumped at the recycling depot:
      • when is the City going to post the times of operations and lock the gates
      • tender for locking gates
      • additional cost to janitorial contract
      • installation of cameras
  2. The Recycle Depot issue of the gates will be forwarded to the 2012 budget deliberations
