General Matters:
  1. Mr. John Leech, Executive Director, Applied Science Technologists & Technicians of British Columbia presented the "Top in Technology" award to Mr. Cliff Shackelly and Mr. Shawn Boven
  2. Ms. Ginny Prowal, Chair, Water Resource Advisory Committee introduced Ms. Sarah Simon and Ms. Caitlyn Grimshire to Council.  Ms. Simon and Ms. Grimshire have been contracted by the City of Merritt as the 2012 Water Conservation/Bear Aware summer students
  1. Council returned the City of Merritt Zoning Bylaw AMendment Bylaw No. 2131, 2012 from the Public Hearing and gave the bylaw third reading and adoption
  2. Council adopted the City of Merritt 2012 Tax Rates Bylaw No. 2133, 2012
New Business:
  1. Council directed Bylaw Services to enforce watering violations on a warning on first offence and a fine on second offence basis
Notices of Motion:
  1. Councillor Murdoch made a Notice of Motion that staff provide a formal report on the status of the request (November 2012) from Council for a report showing the anticipated capital replacement costs for water, sewer and road infrastructure by year end for at least the next 20 years along with options for funding these costs
Reports from Council:
  1. Councillor Brigden announced he has tendered his resignation as Councillor for the City of Merritt effective May 31, 2012 and thanked Council and staff for all the assistance and support he has been shown during both his past full term of office and his current short term - Mayor ROline wished Councillor Brigden all the best in his new career
  2. Councillor Norgaard reported she had attended the SILGA Conference in Revelstoke ASpril 26-28, 2012
  3. Councillor Goetz rode the "Big Bike" on May 07, 2012.  The event raised over $14,000 for the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the City has been challenged to put together a team for next year
  4. Councillor Baker attended a meeting on May 03, 2012 hosted by BC Hydro regarding the new proposed route for the transmission lines.  Councillor Baker also attended the SILGA Conference as did Councillor Kroeker.  Councillor Baker congratulated Councillor Kroeker on being elected to the office of President for SILGA and being a member of the UBCM Executive
  5. Mayor ROline congratulated Sean O'Flaherty on being a full member of the Planning Institute of British Columbia and receiving his MCIP status.  Mayor Roline supported McHappy Day on May 02, 2012 and also attended the SILGA Conference

  1. Council resolved that the City send a letter to MLA Harry Lali requesting his support for Bill 34
