Public Input:

Mr. Al Mackay-Smith made comments to Council regarding the development variance permit application on Pineridge Drive.

General Matters:
  1. THAT Pursuant to Council Procedure Bylaw No. 2055, 2008 Section 20(e); Council address the request from Youth & Rural Outreach Services at tonight’s meeting
Unfinished Business:
  1. THAT Council support Fireside Centre grand opening with donation of event tent, PA system and chairs on June 15, 2013 at a total of two hundred ($200) dollars with funds allocated from the City Initiative fund
  1. THAT City of Merritt Five Year Financial Plan Bylaw No. 2146, 2013 be adopted
  2. THAT City of Merritt 2013 Tax Rates Bylaw No. 2148, 2013 be given first reading
  3. THAT City of Merritt 2013 Tax Rates Bylaw No. 2148, 2013 be given second reading
  4. THAT City of Merritt 2013 Tax Rates Bylaw No. 2148, 2013 be given third reading
New Business:
  1. That Council denies the Development Variance Permit Application 2013-01 for 3399 Pineridge Drive
  2. THAT Council approve Development Permit Application DP2013-C for A&W Restaurant
  3. THAT Council endorse the sign and direct Administration to install the sign in our downtown parking lot
  4. THAT Council approve the Temporary Use Permit TUP2013-01 for Merritt Return-It Depot for a period of one (1) year
  5. THAT the discussion regarding the replacement of the teepee signed be deferred until arrangements can be for Kim Laveck and Brent MacDonald to attend a Regular Council meeting as a delegation
Notices of Motion:

Councillor Murdoch brought forth the following Notice of Motion:

  1. THAT further to Council resolution 064/13 approved April 09, 2013; Council appoints Councillor Norgaard to be the Council representative to the proposed Marketing Advisory Committee of Tourism Nicola Valley and to act as “liaison” between the City and Tourism Nicola Valley

Councillor Baker brought forth the following Notice of Motion:

  1. THAT a bylaw be developed on the Air Quality Standards that are permitted on any new or modified facilities
    NOTE:  the standards should meet or exceed those that were required of the Green Energy Plant
Reports From council:
  1. Councillor Norgaard attend the Community Futures Nicola Valley event on May 08, 2013
  2. Councillor Baker congratulated the Merritt bowling team that will be representing British Columbia and congratulated Mayor Roline on her successful election as a Director on the SILGA Executive

  3. Mayor Roline attended the youth recognition celebration; the Arts Council 30th anniversary on April 26th; the BC Mayor’s Caucus on April 29th & 30th , SILGA Conference May 01st-03rd; McHappy Day on May 08th  and the Rotary Club 1st annual Crab Fest on May 11th
