GENERAL MATTERS - DELEGATIONS AND RECOGNITIONS
  • Bass Coast 2014 Music Festival; presentation by Andrea Graham and Liz Thomson, Co-Founders of Bass Coast Music Festival
Bylaws
  • THAT Council receive the Certificate of Sufficiency dated May 06, 2014 pertaining to Fire Department 2014 Capital Projects City of Merritt Loan Authorization Bylaw No. 2165, 2014
  • THAT Fire Department 2014 Capital Projects City of Merritt Loan Authorization Bylaw No. 2165, 2014 be adopted
  • THAT the City of Merritt Election Procedure Bylaw No. 2169, 2014 be adopted
  • THAT City of Merritt Five-Year Financial Plan Bylaw No. 2170, 2014 be adopted
  • THAT City of Merritt Annual Property Taxes for 2014 Bylaw No. 2171, 2014 be adopted
New Business:
  • THAT Council approves the audited Annual Financial Statements for 2013 as presented
  • THAT Council defers the Economic Development Strategy to a future Committee of the Whole meeting
  • THAT Council approve the 2014-15 Annual Operating Agreement with BC Transit; AND THAT Council authorize the Mayor and Corporate Administrative Officer to sign the agreement on behalf of the City
  • THAT Council accepts the applicaiton and awards a Revitalization Tax Exemption Certificate, subject to final inspection, to ENN Canada Corporation
  • THAT Council accepts the application and awards a Revitalization Tax Exemption Certificate, subject to final inspection, to Parker Ranch Properties
  • THAT Council accepts the application and awards a Revitalization Tax Exemption Certificate, subject to final inspection, to I S Value Enterprises LTD
  • THAT Council directs staff to renew the tourism marketing and development membership Agreement on a year to year basis based on priorities for the year at a rate of eight thousand dollars ($8,000) per year
  • THAT Council funds up to five hundred dollars ($500) to update the Merritt Air Quality Management Plan from May 2007
  • THAT Committee Member Colleen Hentz be removed from the Air Quality Committee due to lack of attendance
  • THAT Council adopt the Cheque Signing Authorities Policy
  • THAT Council appoint Mike Jolly and Bonnie Cowan as members of the Directional Signage Committee
Reports From council:
  1. Councillor Goetz attended the Crabfest on May 10, the Branding Open House on May 12 and a reminder the Farmer's Market start up this Saturday, May 17
  2. Councillor Menard attended the SILGA Conference in Pentiction and would like to thank the City for the opporunity to attend
  3. Councillor Norgaard attended Crabfest and enjoyed the event with the exception of the sound system that was brought in as it was difficult to hear
  4. Councillor Baker met with Minister Cadieux on April 23, on April 24 attended the Chamber of Commerce AGM which was catered with a fantastic meal by Corbett Lake.  Councillor Baker also attended the Chamber of Commerce Business After Business at Spirit Square and the Branding Open House on May 12.  The Merritt Country Run has challenged City Hall to submit a team and participate in the run on June 07
  5. Mayor Roline attended the SILGA Conference in Pentiction; the SILGA Education Seminar on May 07, the Crabfest which was well attended and organized and run by organizers; the Branding Open House on May 12 and 13.  Mayor Roline also attended a Ministry of Forests Panel Meeting and participated in a photo op with the Merritt Centennials and WestCan Auto Parts for the announcement of a new score clock for the Arena
