GENERAL MATTERS - Delegations and Recognitions

  • S/Sgt S. White introduced 2 members of the force – Const. Mike Damien who is part of the First Nations team and the newest member of the force right out of depot, Const. Branden Beauchesne-Hebert and presented Council with the first quarter policing activity report for the Merritt RCMP Detachment
  • Mr. J. Gardner provided Council with an overview of the operations of the Douglas Lake Ranch which was founded in 1884 and is the largest in Canada. Douglas Lake Ranch hosts over 20,000 guests in recreational activities and provides free access to a number of lakes on their private property. Douglas Lake beef is trademarked and available for purchase at the Douglas Lake Ranch and Quilchena Ranch stores

BYLAWS

  • Council adopted the City of Merritt Five Year Financial Plan Bylaw
  • Council adopted the City of Merritt Property Tax Rates for 2015 Bylaw
  • Council adopted the City of Merritt Water Parcel Tax Bylaw
  • Council adopted the City of Merrirr Sewer Parcel Tax Bylaw
  • Council rescinded the first htree readings of City of Merritt Zoning Bylaw Amendment Bylaw No. 2179

NEW BUSINESS

  • THAT Council confirms that Mayor Menard be appointed as the City’s primary voting delegate and selects Councillors Goetz and Baker as the alternate voting delegates
  • THAT Council deny the request for support from the Merritt Secondary School Decoration Committee   
  • THAT the City enter into a one (1) year membership agreement with Gold Country Communities Society in the amount of eighty-four hundred ($8400) dollars

REPORTS FROM COUNCIL

  •  Councillor Baker attended the presentation by the Public Works Department at the library on May 07, 2015 on the processing of bio solids at the City sewerage treatment plant.  Councillor Baker commended the Public Works employees for an fantastic presentation
  • Councillor Goetz attended the SILGA Conference April 28-May 01st in Kamloops; provided the latest gas buddy prices and expressed his condolences to the family on the passing of Bill Palgain, a World War II veteran
  • Councillor Prowal attended the SILGA Conference April 28-May 01st in Kamloops, First Nations Living Legends on May 04th, Gold Country meeting in Cache Creek on May 06th; met with the City Emergency Planning Coordinator and attended the Public Works “Go with the Flo” presentation at the library on May 07th; and attended the Emergency Planning Workshop in Kamloops on May 11th 
  • Councillor Brown attended the SILGA Conference April 28-May 01st in Kamloops as well as the Public Works “Go with the Flo” presentation at the library on May 07th
  • Councillor Norgaard attended the SILGA Conference April 28-May 01st in Kamloops as well as the Public Works “Go with the Flo” presentation at the library on May 07th
  • Councillor Christopherson attended the SILGA Conference April 28-May 01st in Kamloops
  • Mayor Menard attended the SILGA Conference April 28-May 01st in Kamloops, First Nations Living Legends on May 04th; participated in the McHappy Days at McDonalds on May 06th attended the Public Works “Go with the Flo” presentation at the library on May 07th; participated in the Health & Safety presentation at Tolko on May 08th and May 09th ; and met with the new Vice President of Interior Health on May 12th
