General Matters:
  1. Mr. B. Ashby from KPMG reviewed the high level high lights of the City of Merritt’s 2010 Audited Financial Statements to Council
Bylaws:
  1. Council adopted the City of Merritt Tax Rates Bylaw No. 2118, 2011
  2. Council gave first, second and third readings to City of Merritt Airport Subdivision and Servicing Loan Authorization Bylaw No. 2119, 2011 AND approved the "Alternative Approval Process" to obtain the approval of the electors, with the deadline for receiving elector responses to be established once approval of the Inspector of Municipalities has been received
  3. Council gave first, second and third readings to City of Merritt DeWolf Way Enhancement Loan Authorization Bylaw No. 2120, 2011 AND approved the "Alternative Approval Process" to obtain the approval of the electors, with the deadline for receiving elector responses to be established once approval of the Inspector of Municipalities has been received
New Business:
  1. Council accepted the 2010 Audited Financial Statements as presented
  2. Council authorized application of funding under the Gas Tax Agreement's General Strategic Priorities Fund (GSPF) for the City of Merritt's Solid Waste/Recycling program
  3. Council appointed Councillor Shelley Sanders, Lorraine MacDonald, Mischelle Pierce, Lois Ward, Jean Kiegerl, Lisa Caruso, Sandy Curnow, Joan Negrin, Donna Boumeester and Marg Gillespie to the Communities in Bloom Committee:
  4. Council appointed Jack Polmans as the representative from the City Centre Board to the City's Directional Signage Committee 
Reports from Council:
  1. Councillor Kroeker visited the Baillie House when they hosted the New Zealand tour operators
  2. Councillor Clarke commented on the new bus stop benches being installed on Coldwater Avenue and congratulated the Public Works Department on their great efforts.  Councillor Clarke also commented that a number of the committee members of the Water Resource Advisory Committee have resigned and with the small committee and the small Environmental Awareness committee, perhaps the two committees can be combined and requested Mayor Roline review this possibility 
  3. Councillor Murdoch reported he attended the BC Transit conference in Penticton last week and received confirmation that the Saturday bus service in Merritt will begin this summer
  4. Councillor Baker reported the City of Merritt hosted the SILGA conference last week and many compliments were relayed to the Civic Centre staff on the improvements to the Civic Centre as well as the many compliments to all City staff involved in the conference.  Councillor Baker also congratulated Councillor Kroeker on being elected First Vice-President of  SILGA
  5. Mayor Roline also reported she has received a number of compliments on the quality of the speakers, the great food and the fun atmosphere during the SILGA conference.  The City of Merritt was gifted a wall clock which hangs in the Council Chamber by SILGA on the City’s 100th birthday and as well received a desk clock from the District of Spallumcheen for the City’s 100th birthday.
  6. Mayor Roline wished S/Sgt Scott Tod and his family best wishes on their move to Wetaskiwin where Scott is now the new S/Sgt.  Kelly Bartch is the Acting S/Sgt for the Merritt detachment
