Unfinished Business

1.  Recommendation:

THAT Council moved to rescind a motion of Council 027/14 (February 11, 2014) "Moved, Seconded and CARRIED THAT Council adopts the brand Merritt Country with Attitude and directs staff to begin implementation including an open house"

Mayor Roline ruled this an inadmissable motion pursuant to City Council Procedure Bylaw No. 2055, 2008

Recommendation:

THAT Council continue to examine the brand Merritt - Country with Attitude as presented by TOTA but also to accept alternate proposals from the public at large for consideration in the City of Merritt's re-branding process

Motion was deffered until after the March 12, 2014 open house

2.  Moved, Seconded and CARRIED

THAT 4:00 p.m. on April 28, 2014 be set as the deadline for receipt of elector responses by the Deputy Corporate Officer with respect to the Alternative Approval Process for Bylaw 2165, 2014

AND THAT the form attached to this report be the approved form for the elector responses for this bylaw;

AND FURTHER THAT the number of elector responses required to prevent Council from proceeding without the assent of the electors be 550

Reports From council:
  1. Councillor Baker attended the Job Fair at the Civic Centre on March 11 and also witnessed a gentlemen sweeping the sidewalk in front of Treehouse Health after comments that the downtown appears dirty
  2. Councillor Christopherson reminded everyone that the Nicola Valley Community Arts Council final concert of the season is on Friday, March 14
  3. Mayor Roline attended a webinar for BC Heritage Commission as well as the Nicola Valley Women in Action 10th Anniversary event on March 7th.  Mayor Roline would also like to remind people about the Branding open house on March 12 and the Fire Hall open house on March 20
