GENERAL MATTERS - Delegations and Recognitions

  • Nil

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

  • City support Community Futures Nicola Valley to install a sign at the Information Centre and contribute 1/3 of the funding up to five hundred ($500.00) dollars
  • Council approves the funding towards the Nicola Lake Working Group’s Water Management Tool in the amount of twenty-five thousand ($25,000) dollars with the funds to be taken out of the City’s Gas Tax Rebate Fund; AND THAT Council appoints Councillor D. Norgaard as the City representative to sit on the Nicola Lake Steering Committee
  • Council and staff review the budgetary process for 2016
  • WHEREAS some discontent has been expressed concerning the 2015 budget process; AND WHEREAS it is Council’s responsibility to provide clear direction to staff concerning their needs and expectations;THEREFORE, the following budget preparation process is proposed:

    1. Each City department will prepare a report detailing their operating budget needs and capital budget needs to be presented to Council before January 15th of each year (included in such reports will be anticipated capital expenditures for the five (5) years upcoming
    2. Council will then convene special public budget deliberation meetings which will conclude before March 31st (said meetings to be advertised on the City website and in local media to allow for public input
    3. The final  budget document resulting from these deliberations will be prepared and presented to Council before April 25th; AND FURTHER THAT Council will require and receive quarterly reports of the City’s financial standing

  • Council read the City of Merritt Cemetery Bylaw No.2175, 2015 for the first, second and third time
  • Council read the City of Merritt Fees and Charges Bylaw No. 2176, 2015 for the first, second and third time
  • Council read the City of Merritt Waterworks Bylaw No. 2181, 2015 for the first, second and third time
  • Council read the City of Merritt Sanitary Sewer Bylaw No. 2182, 2015 for the first, second and third time
  • Council read the City of Merritt Solid Waste Collection, Disposal and Control Bylaw No. 2183, 2015 for the first, second and third time
  • Council accepted and approved the Zoning Amendment Application for 2190 Voght Street and directed staff to process the application 
  • Council read the City of Merritt Zoning Bylaw Amendment Bylaw No. 2194, 2015 for the first and second time
  • Council submitted the City of Merritt Zoning Bylaw Amendment Bylaw No. 2194, 2015 to Public Hearing
  • Council gives notice of their intention to consider a resolution to issue Development Variance Permit DVP 2015-02
  • Council read the City of Merritt Municipal Ticket Information Bylaw Amendment No. 2195, 2015 for the first, second and third time

NEW BUSINESS

  • Council approves $1,000 towards the Cache Creek Flood Damage Recovery Fund
  • Council receive the proposed amendments summary report from the Director of Development Services, TNRD for information; and staff directed to respond to the TNRD on behalf of Council proclaiming full support of the proposed amendments

  • Councillor Prowal attended the Kinder Morgan update and the Merritt Fire Rescue Department tour and bar-b-q on June 02nd, TOTA/Gold Country presentation in Gold Country on June 03rd, Back Country Horsemen of BC event on June 05th and reminded Council of the Adopt-A-Road clean-up on June 29th 
  • Councillor Christopherson attended the Ty Pozzobon PBR event on May 30th, Swinging Fiddler event on May 31st, Kinder Morgan update as well as the Merritt Fire Rescue Department tour and bar-b-q on June 02nd 
  • Councillor Brown attended the Powwow at Bench School on May 27th, the Merritt Fire Rescue Department tour and bar-b-q on June 02nd, and the opening of the Old Age Pensioners Convention on June 09th 
  • Councillor Norgaard attended the Powwow at Bench School on May 27th, Swinging Fiddler event on May 31st and the Merritt Fire Rescue Department tour and bar-b-q on June 02nd
  • Councillor Baker attended the Merritt Fire Rescue Department tour and bar-b-q on June 02nd and wished Kelly Donaldson, previous coordinator at the Community Policing Office, all the best in her new endeavor 
  • Mayor Menard attended the Powwow at Bench School on May 27th,TNRD Board Meeting on May 28th, Ty Pozzobon PBR event on May 30th and thanked Ty for bringing the event to Merritt, the Kinder Morgan update and the Merritt Fire Rescue Department tour and bar-b-q on June 02nd, FCM Convention June 03rd-08th and the opening ceremonies of the Old Age Pensioners Convention on June 09th
