General Matters:
  1. Mr. N. Kang, Smart Step Founder and Executive Director made a presentation to Council.  Mr. Kang thanked Council for their fianacial support as well as their physical presence to Smart Step.  Mr.Kang provided the history of the program as well as outlined the events the youth have planned for 2011 and their vision for 2012
New Business:
  1. Council awarded the tender for the aquisition of a new street sweeper to Vimar Equipment Ltd. in the amount of $197,712.48 including taxes
  2. Council awarded the tender for the purchase of new refuse and recycling carts from Steel Container Systems Inc. in the amount of $231,809.33 including taxes
  3. Council awarded the tender for the acquisition of a fully automated refuse/recycle truck to Rollins Machinery Ltd. in the amount of $274,266.83 including taxes
  4. Council awarded the tender for the purchase of a single axel combination dump truck, spreader and snow plough to IRL Truck Centre in the amount of $147,214.11 including taxes
  5. Council resolved to proceed with the proposed Midday Valley Road boundary extension proposal and Administration is authorized to develop, sign and submit the proposal to the Provincial Government.  Council approved the Elector Response Form to be used for the Alternative Approval Process to obtain the assent of the electors for the City to proceed with a request to the Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural Development to expand the City's boundaries to incorporate the properties identified with the deadline for the submissions of the forms as 4:30 p.m. on Friday, August 26, 2011
  6. Council accepted the Merritt Visitor Information Booth report for the fourth quarter of 2010 and year end
  7. Council accepted the Merritt Visitor Information Booth report for the first quater of 2011
  8. Council accpeted the Community Futures Nicola Valley report for April, May and June 2011
  9. Council defeated the resolution authorizing the Chief Administrative Officer to sign the 2011 membership agreement between the City of Merritt and Gold Country Communities Society
  10. Council directed staff to write a letter of support for CBC/Radio Canada to the CRTC
Notices of Motion:
  1. Councillor Sanders made a notice of motion that the 2011 membership agreement between the City of Merritt and Gold Country Communities Society with a report from Administration be on the July 26th Agenda
  2. Councillor Kroeker made a notice of motion that in circumstances where the City provides partnering funds; that partner funds be spent before City funds are expended
Reports from Council:
  1. Councillor Sanders participated in the Investor's Symposium hosted by Community Futures Nicola Valley on July 06th during Mountainfest and reminded everyone that the Communities in Bloom judges will be in Merritt on Monday, July 18th
  2. Councillor Baker thanked Community Futures Nicola Valley for their services over the past years and attended the Smart Step AGM on July 06th
  3. Mayor Roline commented on the passing of Tom Lacey, Emergency Program Coordinator.  Mayor Roline was involved in the ATVBC Association VIP ride on June 24th with over 300 riders joining the event and she also attended the Investor's Symposium on July 06th
