GENERAL MATTERS - Delegations and Recognitions

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

 THAT the City provide a letter of support to the Arts Council in their grant application

THAT Council approves application DVP 2017-01  Voting Opposed:  Councillor Goetz

NEW BUSINESS

THAT Council renew the Lease Agreement between the City of Merritt and the Nicola Valley Community Human Services Association for a three (3) year term;
AND THAT the Mayor and Corporate Officer be authorized to execute the agreement on behalf of the City
Voting Opposed:  Councillor Prowal

THAT Council directs staff to place a Section 57 Notice on the title of 1525 Blair Street

THAT Council direct staff to prepare a letter to the Royal Canadian Legion recognizing the achievements and services provided by the Royal Canadian Legion to members of the community including veterans, seniors and youth as well as their contributions to the community including the Food Bank, Soup Kitchen, Gillis House, Nicola Meadows, Baillie House, School Lunch Programs, and a “Poppy Bursary” to a High School graduate  

THAT the City of Merritt make a ten thousand ($10,000) dollar donation to the Red Cross to assist evacuees that have sustained a loss the as a result of wildfires within various regions across the province

REPORTS FROM COUNCIL

  • Councillor Brown attended the Syrian family meeting, the Bass Coast Festival walk about and the Interior Health Authority meeting.
  • Councillor Norgaard attended the Bass Coast Festival walk about and the Interior Health Authority.
  • Councillor Prowal attended a Fire Smart seminar, participated in the Adopt a Road clean-up, attended Canada Day celebrations, a Tourism & Economic Development Committee meeting, the Bass Coast Festival walk about and a Chamber of Commerce meeting. 
  • Councillor Christopherson attended the Canada Day celebrations and received a draft report from the Healthcare Consultants.
  • Councillor Goetz provided the latest Gas Buddy prices, attended a Social Planning Committee meeting, the Bass Coast Festival walk about and the Little Britches rodeo.
  • Mayor Menard “went to jail” to raise funds for children, attended the Canada Day celebrations, the Bass Coast Festival walk about, the Interior Health Authority meeting, the Dog show, the Little Britches rodeo, met with Destination BC and attended a BC Rodeo Association meeting.
