Unfinished Business:
  1. Council directed staff to consider the requests of the Chamber of Commerce when rewriting the Solid Waste Bylaw
  2. Council directed Administration to provide interim measures to deal with the financial issues raised by the Chamber of Commerce for select businesses in the downtown core until the final re-write of the Solid Waste Bylaw is complete
  3. Council supported the Chamber of Commerce request for funding for the 2012 Street Mall in the amount of $4300 being funded from the City Initiative Funding
New Business:
  1. Council authorized the Public Works Department to proceed with the repair to the Nicola River bank with a portion of the cost being funded from Council contingencies and the remainder from Public Works Drainage funds and other operational accounts
  2. The City awarded the Merritt Counrthouse Janitorial contract to TNT Janitorial for the amount of $50 plux taxes, per day, on an "as required basis" for the term of September 01, 2012 to August 31, 2014
  3. Council adopted the 2011 Statement of Financial Information as presented
  4. Council adopted the 2011 Development Cost Charge report as presented
  5. Council adopted the 2011 Annual Report as presented
  6. Council resolved that the 2012 Sprinkling Regulation times be amended from 8:00-10:00 am to 6:00-8:00 am and from 8:00-10:00 pm to 7:00-10:00 pm
  7. Council adopted the Christmas City Hall Closure Policy as amended
  8. Council referred the Child and Youth Protection Policy back to the Policy & Bylaw Review Committee for discussion regarding volunteers
  9. Council adopted the Communications Systems Policy as amended
  10. Council rescinded the Country Music Artists Murals in City Centre Policy
  11. Council referred the Criminal Record Check Policy back to the Policy & Bylaw Review Committee for discussion regarding volunteers
Reports from Council:
  1. Mayor Roline met with the Swiss director and producer of the film "Shaina" being filmed in Lower Nicola, attended the Friday evening performance of "Last Rites" as well as the Canada Day celebrations and the unveiling of the electric car charging station at the Baillie House
