GENERAL MATTERS - Delegations and Recognitions

Shaw Go Wi-Fi; Jeff Bray, Manager, Government and Regulatory Affairs – BC, Shaw Communications Inc. to make a presentation to Council

Mr. Bray requested the City of Merritt enter into a partnership agreement with Shaw to extend its Shaw Go Wi-Fi network through the use of municipal infrastructure
 

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

BYLAWS

  • THAT the City of Merritt Zoning Bylaw Amendment No. 2177, 2014 be given first reading

Voting Opposed:  Councillors Menard and Norgaard

  • THAT the City of Merritt Zoning Bylaw Amendment No. 2177, 2014 be given second reading

Voting Opposed:  Councillors Menard and Norgaard

  • THAT the City of Merritt Zoning Bylaw Amendment No. 2177, 2014 be submitted to a Public Hearing
     

NEW BUSINESS

  • THAT Council approves the 2014-2024 Community Works Fund Agreement as presented;

AND THAT the Mayor and Corporate Officer be authorized to sign the Agreement on behalf of the City

  • THAT Council approves setting the date for the consideration of the 2013 Annual Report as July 22, 2014;

AND THAT Council directs staff to advertise the meeting twice in the local newspaper

  • THAT Council approve borrowing from the Municipal Authority of British Columbia, as part of the 2014 Fall Borrowing Session, one million ($1,000,000) dollars as authorized through Fire Department 2014 Capital Projects City of Merritt Loan Authorization Bylaw No. 2165, 2014;

AND THAT the Thompson-Nicola Regional District be requested to consent to our borrowing over a twenty (20) year term and include the borrowing in their Security Issuing Bylaw

REPORTS FROM COUNCIL

  • Councillor Goetz attended the 30th annual dog show July 01-04; Canada Day celebration on July 01 and expressed his thank you to the Fire Department for all their efforts fighting the fire downtown and congratulated Roger Sloan on winning the Nova Scotia open   
  • Councillor Baker attended the Canada Day celebration on July 01; the Peace Torch Run on July 02; the Firefighters Appreciation Dinner on July 04 and the TNRD Library open house on July 08
  • Mayor Roline attended the dog show; the Canada Day celebrations with MP Dan Albas and MLA Jackie Tegart; the Peace Torch Run and the Firefighters Appreciation Dinner
