GENERAL MATTERS - Delegations and Recognitions

Mr. M. Ince presented the Mount Mabel Wind Energy Project to Council highlighting:
• Project planning and design
• Environmental setting
• Energy production and market for the product
• Land requirements
• Project activities
• Schedule for development


THAT Council approve the Kraft-Hockeyville request for a donation of three hundred and seventy-five ($375) dollars plus tax to cover the cost of advertising for the Kraft-Hockeyville 2017 Nominations

THAT Council approve support in the amount of four thousand ($4,000) dollars including four (4) adult annual passes to the Nicola Valley Aquatic Centre for the Rocky Mountain Rangers 95th Anniversary as per their letter dated January 07, 2017

THAT Councillor Prowal be permitted to attend the Nicola Watershed Community Roundtable meetings 

THAT the 2017 Grant Applications be approved as deliberated 

THAT Council direct staff to prepare a Draft Reserve and Surplus Policy






THAT the City of Merritt extend its’ membership in Gold Country to 2020

  • Councillor Norgaard attended a Natural Resource class on “Local Government” at NVIT and the Bio Solids Forum in Kamloops.  
  • Councillor Brown attended the Bio Solids Forum in Kamloops, budget meetings and a Policy Review Committee meeting.
  • Councillor Prowal attended the Gold Country meeting in Ashcroft and the Bio Solids Forum in Kamloops.
  • Councillor Baker attended budget meetings.
  • Councillor Christopherson attended a Canada 150 Committee meeting, budget meetings, Kinder Morgan open house, Business after Business at the Museum, Skating Carnival and participated in a teleconference call with Interior Health regarding doctors for Merritt.
  • Councillor Goetz provided the latest Gas Buddy prices, and attended Movie Night at NVIT, budget meetings and the Kinder Morgan open house. 
  • Mayor Menard attended Thompson Nicola Regional District meetings, Local Government Legislative Academy conference in Richmond, Nicola Valley Search & Rescue meeting, Diacarbon meeting, Green Energy Plant meeting, Mayor’s Caucus in Oak Bay, budget meetings, meeting with Ministry of Transportation regarding walkway at exit 290 and lighting at exit 286, Policy Review Committee meeting and participated in a teleconference call regarding doctor recruitment for Merritt.
