GENERAL MATTERS - Delegations and Recognitions

  • THAT the information provided by the bluedot movement be a part of the discussion when crafting the SILGA resolution on bio solids   


  • THAT Council authorizes the issuance of Development Variance Permit DVP2015-01 (2052 Castillou Crescent)


  • THAT first and second reading for Zoning Bylaw No. 2134 be repealed


  • THAT Council participates in the Adopt-A-Road Program setting March 30, 2015; June 29, 2015 and September 28, 2015 as clean up dates;
    AND THAT the Mayor be authorized to sign the Merritt Community Enhancement Partnership Program on behalf of Council;
    AND FURTHER THAT Councillor Prowal be the Council liaison for the Council adopted road in the Adopt-A-Road Program


  • THAT Council authorizes notice of its intention to dispose of City’s property, Lot 2, Plan 22544, District Lot 174 Kamloops Division, PID #006-810-853, also known as the Merritt Curling Facility, via a lease agreement with the Merritt Curling Club during the period from March 11, 2015 to March 10, 2020, with a specified annual payment of one ($1.00) dollar plus applicable taxes.  Voting Opposed: Councillor Brown
  • THAT Council supports the submission of a grant application to the New Building Canada Fund-Small Communities Fund for the reconstruction of Coldwater Avenue and underground infrastructure from Main Street to Voght Street;
    AND THAT Council commits to providing our share of the project costs from the Water Fund, Sewer Fund and General Fund

  • Councillor Prowal attended with Councillor Goetz the meet the Councillor meeting at Tim Horton’s on January 26th with no attendees, participated in the Merritt Business Walk on January 29th and the Chamber of Commerce round table discussions at the Country Music Hall of Fame on February 04th 
  • Councillor Christopherson participated in the Merritt Business Walk on January 29th, the Reconciliation Canada workshop on February 02nd, Family Day celebrations at the Aquatic Centre and the Arena on February 09th and the $1.75 million announcement by MP Dan Albas for the trades training facility at NVIT on February 10th 
  • Councillor Goetz reported the Gas Buddy prices in Merritt at 104.9/litre, Kamloops at 96.9/litre, Kelowna at 104.9/litre and Vernon at 96.9/litre as of February 10th  
  • Councillor Baker attended the Chamber of Commerce upcoming events round table at the Country Music Hall of Fame on February 04th 
  • Councillor Norgaard attended the Reconciliation Canada workshop on February 02nd 
  • Mayor Menard attended the Reconciliation Canada workshop and a meeting with the Minister of Environment regarding bio solids on February 02nd, hosted the Mayor drop-in session on February 04th, attended the TNRD meeting on February 05th, and the federal government funding announcement by MP Dan Albas of $1.75 million at NVIT for the trades training facility
