Bylaws

1.  THAT Council receive the Certificate of Sufficiency dated December 10, 2013 pertaining to Central Park Improvements - Upgrades to the Washrooms and Construction of a Lacrosse Box City of Merritt Loan Authorization Bylaw No. 2150, 2013

AND THAT Bylaw No. 2150, 2013 be adopted

2.  THAT Council receive the Certificate of Sufficiency dated December 10, 2013 pertaining to 2013 Asphalt Project City of Merritt Loan Authorization Bylaw No. 2151, 2013

AND THAT Bylaw No. 2151, 2013 be adopted

3.  THAT Council abandon 2013 Sidewalk Project City of Merritt Loan Authorization Bylaw No. 2152, 2013

4. THAT Council receive the Certificate of Sufficiency dated December 10, 2013 pertaining to 2013 Public Works Utility Building City of Merritt Loan Authorization Bylaw No. 2153, 2013

AND THAT Bylaw No. 2153, 2013 be adopted

5.  THAT City of Merritt Amendment No. 1 to Five Year Financial Plan 2013-2017, Bylaw No. 2164, 2013 be given first reading

THAT City of Merritt Amendment No. 1 to Five Year Financial Plan 2013-2017, Bylaw No. 2164, 2013 be given second reading

THAT City of Merritt Amendment No. 1 to Five Year Financial Plan 2013-2017, Bylaw No. 2164, 2013 be given third reading

New Business: 

1. THAT Carole Fraser be appointed Chief Election Offier for conducting the 2014 Local By-Election with a stipend of two thousand ($2,000) dollars and the authority to appoint other election officials as required;

AND THAT Shawn Boven be appointed Deputy Chief Election Officer for the 2014 By-Election with a stipend of one thousand ($1,000) dollars;

AND FURTHER THAT election officials appointed by the Chief Election Officer be paid fifteen ($15.00) dollars per hour

2.  THAT Council approves the purchase of the Vadim ICity software system and authorizes the Mayor and Financial Services Manager to sign the Purchase Contract on behalf of the City

3.  THAT the City renews the lease with Nicola Family Therapy for a three-year term, January 1, 2014 to December 31, 2016 at the adjusted rate of $885/month for 2014, $1,017/month for 2015 and $1,169 for 2016

Reports From Council:

  1. Councillor Christopherson reported that the Country Christmas weekend was a success:
  • Approx. 450 attended the Ballet
  • Approx. 600 attended the Community Concert
  • Est. 3000 spectators watched the parade (some from as far away as Texas)
  • 500 volunteers made the weekend possible
  • The Craft Fair was well attended over the two (2) days
  • There was around 60 floats with a couple from out of town; the Dr. Carlson's were thrilled to be the Parade Marshal's
  • The FD participated and did a very good job on the Santa Float

2. Councillor Goetz wants to thank the catering crew, Leisure Services Department and all involved with organizing the City Christmas Party this year

3. Councillor Baker would like to thank the Public Workds Department for providing the large tree for the Christmas Tree Light Up in Spirit Square following the parade
