GENERAL MATTERS - Delegations and Recognitions

 UNFINISHED BUSINESS

THAT Council approves the City of Merritt Nicola Valley Community Theatre Society Donation Collection Agreement and authorizes the Mayor and Corporate Officer to execute the document on behalf of the City

THAT Council accept the Merritt Transit System Service Review, November 2016 as presented; AND THAT Council direct staff to work with BC Transit to implement immediate term service options as outlined in the Merritt Transit System Service Review, November 2016; AND FURTHER THAT Council direct staff to work with BC Transit to conduct additional public consultation to inform short term service option details as outlined in the Merritt Transit System Service Review, November 2016 

THAT consideration of Nicola Valley Family Therapy’s request for a “cap” on their rent be brought to the 2017 budget discussions Voting opposed: Councillors Brown and Prowal

THAT the words “as proposed” be removed from the main motion

THAT Council adopt the draft Council meeting schedule/calendar for 2017 attached to this report as Schedule “A” as corrected

THAT Council approve borrowing for the purchase of Command II replacement 2016 GMC Sierra Truck and Equipment up to fifty-two thousand eight hundred ($52,800) dollars to be financed over five (5) years with no right of renewal (s. 175 Community Charter) through MFA Equipment Financing Program

  • Councillor Christopherson attended Country Christmas Week festivities, Hands of Hope food drive, playschool fundraiser event at the Grand, and will be attending the upcoming Arts Council AGM.
  • Councillor Prowal attended Country Christmas Week festivities, BC Council for Cooperation event at the Civic Centre, Naturalist Society documentary event, and received a “thank you” to Public Works from the Legion for cleaning of the cenotaph for Remembrance Day.
  • Councillor Baker attended Country Christmas Week festivities, Hands of Hope food drive, Police Committee meeting, Policy Review Committee meeting, completed a 2016/17 RCMP Client and Partner Survey along with Mayor Menard, and thanked Sky McKeown for the FireSmart Planning Grant report.
  • Councillor Norgaard attended Country Christmas Week festivities, Social Planning Committee meeting, Hands of Hope food drive, Police Committee meeting, and the “Flow & Grow” Symposium in Kelowna.
  • Councillor Goetz provided the latest Gas Buddy prices, attended Country Christmas Week festivities, and announced that Willie Nelson and Toby Keith will be performing at the 2017 Rockin River Fest. 
  • Councillor Brown attended the Love to Dance academy performance at the Civic Centre, Policy Review Committee meeting, attended a tea & silent auction, and encouraged citizens to get their flu shot. 
  • Mayor Menard attended Country Christmas Week festivities, Thompson Nicola Regional District Board meeting, Thompson Nicola Regional Hospital District meeting, Emergency Management Protection Services meeting, site meeting with the Ministry of Fisheries, Ministry of Agriculture, and the City’s Director of Engineering & Development regarding the Claybanks erosion issue, Christmas Enhancement draw at City Furniture, Hands of Hope food drive, Police Committee meeting, Policy Review Committee meeting, and completed a 2016/17 RCMP Client and Partner Survey along with Councillor Baker.
