Minutes:
  1. Council deferred the decision of installing an automatic gate system at the Recycling Depot to the 2013 budget process
  2. Council directed that a sign be erected at the Recycling Depot indicating hours of operation as well as the notification of camera surveillance and requesting out of courtesy for neighbours, to please honour the hours
  3. Council directed staff to arrange for open house dates for the conceptual plan for Central and Voght Parks
General Matters:
  1. Ms. S. Simon and Ms.C. Grimshire presented the final report for the Water Conservation and Bear Aware programs for 2012
Bylaws:
  1. Council gave first, second and third reading to the City of Merritt Revitalization Tax Exemption Amendment Bylaw
New Business
  1. Council authorized the Mayor and Chief Administrative Officer to finalize details and sign off on the Airport Leasing Agreement based on the rate of $2.00 per square metre for 6 lots for a 25 year lease with a renewal of an additional 25 year term at the same rate
  2. Council authorized the Mayor and Chief Administrative Officer to sign the contract with TELUS for long distance service for a 5 year term at the of $.024 per minute
  3. Council authorized the Mayor and Chief Administrative Officer to sign the contract with TELUS for managed business internet service for a 5 year term at a cost of $1561.00 per month
  4. Council issued the Development Permit 2012-E for 1690 and 1710 Voght Street
  5. Council adopted the Strategic Priorities Chart and Work Program for use at quarterly meetings and annual review; Council received the Decision Making Guidelines, including the pre-existing Council Meeting action list and adopted the Council Direction Request Forms for regular use; and adopted the Roles and Responsibilities Guidelines clarifying roles of both Council and staff
  6. Council appointed the following individuals to the Heritage Commission:
    -Councillor Murdoch
    -Tom Edwards
    -Barbara Sayles
    -Jayne Yeadon
    -Carol Madryga
    -Donna Schmidt
  7. Council adopted the Corrective Discipline Policy, Council Discretionary Expenses Policy, Dress Code for City Hall Employees Policy and the Corporate Credit Card Policy as amended
  8. Council granted Insight Support Services use of Rotary Park, some tables and chairs for the Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder International Awareness Day being September 09, 2012 waiving the $142.24 cost
