GENERAL MATTERS - Delegations and Recognitions

 MLA Jackie Tegart requested from Council how she could assist with Minister meetings at the upcoming 2016 UBCM Conference

MLA Tegart provided an update on:
• Local events
• Sustainable water
• Invasive weeds
• Visit to the Nicola Dam
• Her road trip to “get out to the people”

NEW BUSINESS

TTHAT Council resolves to award the Request for Proposal for the Rescue Truck Retrofit to Safetek Emergency Vehicles Ltd. in the amount of one hundred and one thousand three hundred and eight-four dollars and sixty-four cents ($101,384.64) including applicable taxes; AND THAT the Mayor and Corporate Officer be authorized to execute the documents on behalf of the City

 

THAT Council resolves to award the Request for Proposal for the New Fully Automated, Side Loader Co-Collection Refuse/Recycling Truck RFP to Rollins Machinery Ltd. in the amount of two hundred and ninety-two thousand two hundred and sixty one dollars and ninety-four cents ($292,261.94) including PST and extended warranty but net of GST; AND THAT the Mayor and Corporate Officer be authorized to execute the documents on behalf of the City

THAT Council resolves to enter into Agreement #233OA0068 with Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (MOTI) for the Nicola Avenue Median Improvements in the amount of five hundred and fifteen thousand dollars ($515,000) plus applicable taxes; AND THAT the Mayor and Corporate Officer be authorized to execute the Agreement on behalf of the City

THAT Council resolve to support the Gold Country Communities Society Symposium event to be held on October 23-24, 2016 and approve an eleven hundred dollar ($1,100) sponsorship to come from the City’s Initiatives budget

NOTICES OF MOTION

REPORTS FROM COUNCIL

  • Councillor Baker had nothing to report 
  • Councillor Brown attended a Community Futures meeting as liaison; volunteered at Rockin’ River Musicfest and inquired about the status of the Junior Council and the Board of Variance     
  • Councillor Prowal commented on the emergency measures for people stranded during highway emergencies and the tourist busses turning out of City Hall onto Voght Street   
  • Councillor Norgaard commented on hotel accommodations in Merritt
  • Councillor Goetz provided the latest gas buddy prices; attended Rockin’ River Musicfest, commented the Labour Day Parade in danger of being cancelled and congratulated Canadian athletes winning medals at the Olympics 
  • Mayor Menard attended the Special Olympic fundraiser, Nicola Canoe Sailing Club event, Don McLeod reunion, Rockin’ River Musicfest, Lower Nicola Indian Band open house and advised the Mayor drop-in for August 03rd had been cancelled
