JULY 2022

Merritt landowners are now eligible to benefit from the Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) Invasive Plant Management program to help manage select invasive plants on their private land. TNRD assistance includes:

  • Rebates for invasive plant control administered by a certified TNRD contractor
  • Free equipment loan-outs, including sprayers, seeders and fertilizer spreaders
  • Free private land consultations with an invasive plant specialist
  • Free insects for biological control (herbicide-free option)

Disposal is also free at TNRD solid waste facilities.

Invasive plants are any non-native plant species that has the capacity to negatively impact animals, humans and ecosystems. Currently, there are more than 72 priority invasive plants in the TNRD.

Residents can access education and outreach programs through the Thompson-Nicola Invasive Plant Management Committee (TNIPMC).  Visit tnipmc.com to learn about regional invasive plants, upcoming events, how to report invasive species and to find other resources for invasive plant management.
