HEALTHCARE IS THE LIFEBLOOD OF OUR COMMUNITY. As the largest segment of our healthcare workforce, nurses carry the weight of much of our community care.

Thanks to their desire to make a difference, along with many other healthcare workers, Merritt is blessed with multiple healthcare facilities, including the Nicola Valley Hospital and Health Centre and Laboratory, Merritt Public Health, Merritt Mental Health & Substance Abuse, Merritt Diabetes Clinic, Nicola Meadows Assisted Living, Gillis House long-term care, and the Merritt Adult Day Centre.

Nicola Valley Hospital and Health Centre

The Nicola Valley Hospital and Health Centre has eight acute care inpatient beds and includes a 24/7 Emergency Department, Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy, Public Health, Mental Health, Home and Community Care Nursing and Home Support and Lab and X-ray. SEE SERVICES.

Nicola Valley Hospital and Health Centre Laboratory provides safe, convenient, respectful and accessible laboratory outpatient services to our patients.

Merritt Public Health Centre

Merritt Public Health Centre is responsible for delivering core programs for public health that broadly cover the areas of health improvement, prevention of disease, disability and injury, health emergency management, and environmental health. Their services include Child and Youth Immunization Program, Immunization Services, Postpartum Care Prenatal Services, and other programs.

Merritt Diabetes Clinic

​The Merritt Diabetes Clinic offers education to increase diabetes awareness and prevention, and help individuals with diabetes manage their condition effectively including insulin adjustment. Visit their webpage on Diabetes Education Programs.

Merritt Mental Health & Substance Use

Interior Health and their partner agencies provide a range of mental health and substance use services for all ages. They strive to ensure that their services are welcoming of all peoples, gender identities, cultures, ethnicities and backgrounds. Gillis House Long-Term Care

Gillis House, located in Merritt, embodies a resident-centered philosophy designed to support residents’ choices, help people function at their highest level, and provide the best quality of life possible.  This facility is a one-storey, stand alone complex care facility with 74 long-term care beds. Rooms consist of four, two, and single dwelling accommodations.  There are ceiling track lifts in each room and the rooms are wheelchair accessible.  Learn more about accessing Long-Term Care. Nicola Meadows Assisted Living

Nicola Meadows, located in Merritt, promotes independence and freedom of choice. It’s philosophy is to provide an atmosphere of respect, dignity, and pride.  This facility has 81 rooms: bachelor, one and two bedrooms. 13 are publicly subsidized Assisted Living units. Merritt Adult Day Centre

Adult Day Programs are supportive community programs for people at risk of losing their independence. Adult Day Services are designed to help  individuals to remain at home while supporting caregivers by providing a range of health, personal, social and recreational services in a safe and caring environment.  Referral to adult day programs are through your local Home and Community Care office.
