4:30 pm

* Traffic Control: 30 – 60 minutes
Start: CENTENNIAL PARK: 1350 Government Ave
End: Merritt Civic Centre: 1950 Mamette Avenue

Prior to prom every year, the graduating class of Merritt Senior Secondary School celebrates their achievement with a Prom + Vehicle Parade around town. This year, it starts at Centennial Park (1350 Government Ave) at 4:30pm. The class, dressed in their best, start a parade of decorated floats and classic vehicles, on a circle tour heading north along Main Street, then east along Coldwater, continuing east on Coutlee, before making their way back west along Quilchena and up north on Chapman Street, arriving at Merritt Civic Centre around 5:00pm.  Between 5:30pm and 6:00pm, the grads will walk the red carpet to their long-awaited prom.

The vehicle parade will be led (and followed) by an RMCP police car.  The RCMP will be stopping traffic at key points along the route. There will be volunteers temporarily barricading the roads until the parade passes through. Expect delays as traffic control may take about 30 to 60 minutes.

We ask all residents to take caution around students, traffic control personnel, and volunteers that will be on the roads during this time. These graduates have worked hard to reach this achievement. We appreciate your cooperation to make this annual celebration special for them!
