Smart Step Youth Association

Smart Step is a youth led program that runs each summer to develop and deliver programs, services and opportunities for the youth of Merritt to become active participants in their community.
Smart Step weekly meetings:
Smart Step meets weekly through the summer and hosts guest speakers and workshops on various topics geared to youth.
Summer projects:
Canada Day Celebration:  Smart Step provides support to the City of Merritt in the annual Canada Day Celebration event. Smart Step youth provide fun activities for children including face-painting.
Graffiti Removal Initiative:  Smart Step provides this service to the community of Merritt each year by identifying areas affected by graffiti and subsequently removing it.  This event bolsters Merritt's image as a beautiful place to live, work, play and visit.
Kids Sports Camp:  Smart Step organizes and runs a free-of-charge, week-long Sports Camp in August to all children in Merritt from ages 5 - 12 to encourage and engage them in physical activity.
