The City of Merritt wants to remind all residents of the flood-impacted area that development permits, building permits, plumbing permits, and demolition permits are free of charge for properties in the flood inundation zone until December 31, 2023.
On December 7th, 2021, Council of the City of Merritt voted to waive these application fees, and various other requirements, in order to support people whose properties were damaged by the flood. Inspections and applications may still be required, but there is no fee due to the City. If you are working with a contractor, please ensure that you do not pay any fees that should not be due.
If your property was in the flood inundation zone, see the following table for the ordinary requirements (second column), and the change made to this (third column). If you are in doubt, please contact the City’s Development Services Department (378-8615).
