2020 Canada Day Celebrations

The City of Merritt is following Provincial Health Guidelines of physical distancing and no gatherings of more than 49 people. This being the case, the Merritt Canada Day Celebrations will look a bit different this year. The City of Merritt through discussions with the Merritt Legion have decided for the safety for residents the traditional Canada Day ceremony will not be held. The fireworks location will be held in a undetermined location this year to be announce on July 1. Community members are strongly encouraged to watch the Canada Day Fireworks live streamed on the City of Merritt Facebook page or from their own backyards.

Canada Day Keep Active Scavenger Hunt

  • Take a picture of you being active at each of the City Parks
  • Include the park sign in each photo
  • Include contact info

City Parks include: Rotary, Centennial, Spirit Square, Central, Fairley, Lions, N’Kwala and Voght. The City Scavenger Hunt will run from June 25 – July 2. The City of Merritt reserves the rights to use submitted photos for marketing purposes. Completed Scavenger Hunts (8 pictures plus contact info) can be sent into or if you post your collage on Facebook/Instagram tag @CityofMerritt.
